The Dallas Cowboys, Americas Football Team, play their home games in Irving, Texas at Texas Stadium. This is just one of the reasons that Irving is popular, but it is no longer the only reason people visit the area. Whether you are attending a Dallas Cowboy football game or are just staying at a hotel in the area while visiting Dallas, Irving continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

The very upscale and trendy area in Irving is called Las Colinas. It is here that the Studios of Las Colinas are located and where local television shows are filmed. As a young adult I would visit the Studios at Las Colinas to attend gala parties in the area. While certainly not as grand as Hollywood, the place does it Dallas-style, nevertheless.

While there are some fine hotels and resorts in the Las Colinas area of Irving, you can also find budget options on Highway 114. This highway will also take you by the place where many Byron Nelson Golf Tournaments have been held in years past. Irving is all about moderation, so you will find a diverse group of people and neighborhoods within the Irving, Texas city limits.

For a real treat, take a ride on the gondolas in downtown Las Colinas, reminiscent of the real thing in Venice, Italy. There are also some amazing bronze statues called the Mustangs of Las Colinas. Quite unlike any sculptures you will ever see, these mustangs appear lifelike and in motion.

San Marcos is located in the Texas Hill Country. Close enough to major cities to be a great weekend getaway, there are bed and breakfasts and hotels always ready to welcome the weary traveler for as long as needed. There is plenty to do in San Marcos, too, from outdoor swimming and canoeing to indoor shopping. Men and women alike tend to love the area and honeymooners can often be found vacationing here.

For the outdoor enthusiasts, the San Marcos River is the center of attention. Travelers even enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling in this river alongside the excellent fishing areas. For women, shopping is a first-class experience at the outlet mall that is the largest in southwest Texas.

Nature plays an important part in San Marcos and visitors might be able to find a hotel situated near a peaceful nature walk. Photographers will find in the area some of the best landscapes around with amazing colors to add to the mix for a great picture. The San Marcos River experience includes a 246-acre park in addition to the 150 miles of river that actually runs through the park itself.

Historic New Braunfels is nearby for a quick trip and antiquing is always quite popular. San Marcos also has a trolley tour and museums highlighting the long history of the area. Overall, for a weekend trip, you cant go wrong in San Marcos, Texas. A lot of visitors choose to stay here for a few days in order to take advantage of all the area has to offer.

Hotels: Lubbock Texas Hotels And Motels

Once a popular place for cattle grazing, Lubbock has since changed into a well-known Texas city that is popular for agriculture. Since Lubbock is the biggest city in the panhandle of Texas, it also has a good share of hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts. For drivers making their way through Texas, Lubbock is a stop along the way before entering New Mexico or Colorado.

The University in the area is Texas Tech and students come from around the country to attend the school. While agriculture is strong in this city, cotton was really how Lubbock was founded. Even today there are still cotton fields in Lubbock, reminding the visitor of years ago.

Lubbock Is a Good Stop along the Way
Some of the things that tourists will enjoy before driving out of town are the outlet malls that dot the landscape. For a taste of history, though, there are still shopfronts that are reminiscent of the days of old. Old habits die hard in Lubbock and even some of the farmers refuse to sell their land in rebellion against new developments.

Lubbock is right in the middle of Abilene and Amarillo and is as flat as any Texas town in this part of the state. For the most part, it wont take more than a day to see the sights in the area, but do stop for the evening and attend a rodeo. For a real taste of Texas, Lubbock and the surrounding area will be a good example of how real Texans live and spend their time.

Phoenix hotels and motels comprise a variety of places to spend the night from low-budget chains to extravagant resorts and spas. Countless times I have visited the Phoenix area to review the many new attractions that this growing city seems to add daily. On the top of my list, however, is always a trip to the spas for a total pampering experience.

In recent years, Phoenix has become the place where everyone seems to be moving. A low cost of living and warm climate are two of the biggest reasons, but the people are friendly in Phoenix, too. Phoenix is becoming a large city, but luckily it still has a small town feel.

To really enjoy the Phoenix hotels, you have to immerse yourself in the entire experience. This will be largely through taking part in the aforementioned spa treatments. People actually travel around the world to experience the resorts and spas since the pampering and signature treatments can be found nowhere else.

On a recent trip to Phoenix, I had the good fortune of riding horses in the mornings and spending my afternoons at the spas. One Saturday I spent my morning at a local horse auction, a weekly occurrence in the area. While Phoenix is a very happening city, the horse auction served to remind me that there are still many cowboys living in the area and preserving an old way of life that will not soon be forgotten.

Hotels: Tucson Arizona Hotels And Motels

Tucson, Arizona is home to a number of dude ranches. For those first-timers to the area, this sort of experience will really give you a feel for the desert and all it offers. In fact, the dude ranch I happened to stay at several years ago had been featured on several western television shows back in the 70s. Often guests are given a chance to discover the Tucson landscape up close on the back of a horse.

For those visitors who dont particularly want to play cowboy during their entire trip, they can take a drive to a ranch instead. You can easily find day ranches that offer several hours of horseback riding at your own pace. In the evening you can find a nice spa in which to relax and unwind after a long ride.

Tucson Offers Down Home Charm
The good thing about Tucson is that the town feels small, but it offers all the comforts of a big city. While it does get hot in the summer, the winters are comfortable and locals spend their time enjoying golf games and outdoor activities. In fact, many northerners visit Tucson during the winter to get away from the cold.

There is also history to be found in Tucson since the wild west experience did once exist in this part of Arizona. From Tucson, you can take day trips to other towns that were well-known for gun fighting in earlier times. Tucson is a great place to relax and spend time doing as much or as little as your itinerary allows.
